Untitled, 8. 033 | 365, 9. waitingI can't believe that I still get such a nice feeling every morning when I go to make my coffee. It's that comforting feeling. And the smell, mmmm!! When I was pregnant, I lost my desire for coffee most of the time. I drank tea a lot. Then I reverted back to coffee being my #1 choice. I still love tea, especially Twining's Decaf English Breakfast Tea at night. But still nothing compares to brewing coffee in the morning!

Cutely holding an umbrella

On another subject... I just need to ponder in writing a little bit. My sales on Etsy have been really bad the past two weeks. I haven't sold anything in those two weeks. I have relisted things to put them back near the front of searches, added some new things, have seen new views and sometimes new hearts, but no selling. I am really hoping this changes soon! Sometimes I don't know if I need to change my prices. Higher? Lower? Or really it's just not a good time in general? Just thinking about it.
Well, I actually made another polyvore set myself again! And with the rain theme. So instead of posting other people's creations, here is mine.

This Weekend
1. Untitled, 2. cleaning up, 3. old things, 4. Bouquet of PopcornA weekend in pictures...
I also need to do cleaning and organizing of neglected areas of the house. Maybe I'll do some sewing too over the weekend(or maybe not). Tomorrow we are going out to lunch for a friend's birthday. That should be fun!
I am sure we will be watching a movie or two as well (at home). And yes I have popcorn!

Decor Inspiration: son's room and living room
The first set here is bright, and I am thinking of these kinds of colors for my son's room. Take out anything girly from the pictures, and add a robot theme and I think it'd be very fun. He already has a robot blanket and wall decals. His room is white, we never painted it. I like the blue paint shown below(found that from yesterday's Etsy finds email).
For our living room and possibly another room, I am still leaning towards grey. I like finding pictures with grey painted walls and some bright accents. It helps me know that things I already have as decoration can still be used with the grey. I have also heard good things about grey since I mentioned it a few months ago from fellow bloggers like Fallon.
I picked out a bunch of paint color chips yesterday in shades of grey and blue. It's tricky finding the right color sometimes with such a small color chip. I have found it's better to go lighter or more subtle than you think you want because the colors always look much more powerful when covering a whole wall instead of a tiny square! I have learned that the hard way. When we painted our living room when we bought our house, I wanted light green walls. The color chip I picked looked really nice and fresh, but once we painted the whole living room it was way too bright. If the sun was shining on it, you had to squint! It hurt our eyes. So the next day we had to paint again, this time finding the right color- a pale guacamole type green. But now I am tired of it since it's been on the walls for over 4 years.
Here are some nice grey inspirations:
1. Small spaces: Elegant, compact living room, from Elle Decor: 'Light Pewter' by Benjamin Moore, 2. Baby's room, detail., 3. Benjamin Moore 'Winter Solstice': Gray living room + built-in bookshelves, from Elle Decor, 4. Switching up the living roomGrey doesn't have to be gloomy

Grey doesn't have to be gloomy!
The picture above I think I found on an online decor website last year, and had made a blog post about decor inspiration. I still love this picture. I saw it recently on my computer while looking through files and remembered how much I loved it. I wouldn't think I would like grey paint usually, but I love this white and red combo with it!!I think I want to paint our living room sometime. Right now it's a pale guacamole green color. I like it but it's been almost 4 years with this color and I'd like a change. It'd be hard for me to limit myself to only red and white decor, so I found more inspiration in the pictures below. The red does look awesome in the pictures, but I currently don't have red pieces like these! I do have more cool colors like teal and turquoise in my living room right now, along with the green walls.

Hot Chocolate Needed

Irene's Cup Of Hot Chocolate
Originally uploaded by ♥babybee
So the weather here in Florida is not as cold as much of the rest of the country, but I have been craving hot chocolate since Thursday night. We need to go grocery shopping to get some of that and a lot of other items.
Up in Alabama where my family lives, they had snow this morning! They emailed me pictures from their cell phone. Wow! It will probably melt soon, or already has, but it was so pretty. A light layer of white.
My mom is doing her first craft show this weekend! It's in downtown Birmingham, AL. It's cold there today so I hope a crowd still shows up. She is selling a lot of crocheted items that keep you warm, which should be a good seller during cold weather! I think she might be inside a building. I will try calling my dad in a little bit, he is with her, to see how it's been so far today. I am excited for her! I hope she sells lots and lots.

Packing
1. Little Miss Traveler Suitcase, 2. suitcases, 3. vintage suitcases as side table, 4. Suitcase-FrontToday I'll be packing for a little trip up to Alabama to visit my family. A close family friend (Nancy) has family there and asked if I'd like to ride up with her tomorrow. We will come home Monday. Of course my husband wasn't thrilled with the idea, since it would mean he'd be all alone! But he knew my family misses Kavi and there are going to be some fun festivities while we are up there that Kavi will enjoy.
It's not that my husband and I can't handle being apart. I'd say we are used to that after he was in India and I was here at the beginning of our relationship. And a couple times he has gone back to visit India without me. But it's more an issue of missing Kavi's moments! And at this age, it goes so fast. :) But it will be fine.
Packing for my son has gotten easier now that he's 20 months old. It was very hard in my opinion to pack every thing that was needed when he was an infant! But we did it anyway, taking several drives to Alabama(averaging 9 hours). Plus he has been on a long flight to India and he survived that, while I somehow survived the packing. :P I had a meltdown the day before we left for India while I was packing. It is so stressful to make sure you have everything a 1 year old might need on a 14-15 hour long, overnight flight, in carry-on bags. hehe.
Anyway, I will need to do more laundry and pack everything up by tonight!

There's nothing like a cup of coffee in the morning...
I am writing this late at night, scheduled to be posted in the morning. So, sadly I don't have coffee at the moment. But tomorrow morning I will definitely be making some! I hope you enjoy the items above that I found on flickr. Maybe they will inspire you to get some coffee (hehe) or help you have a better day! Look at that awesome middle picture - the giant coffee pot!
I have been blessed lately in my shop TheCozyNest! On Sunday I sold three items! And last Thursday I sold an item. It's very encouraging. It also means i need to start new designs and projects for the shop! I have so many ideas in my head, and so much fabric that can be used for the ideas, but the time to actually make the items? That is the issue!

International food!
Having a nice time with the family! Later today we are all going for Thai food. I love Thai food! I like lots of different kinds of foods. Thai, Indian, Mexican, Chinese, Italian, Greek and so on. Yesterday we had some Greek at a local places called Greek City Cafe and I am so glad we have them here! They had a special- $4.95 for falafel in a pita plus a side. It is a delicious falafel, and very very big! We can't get falafel very easily around here.I love food and am not afraid to admit it!
Like many other Americans, I am a "mut" in terms of the nationalities that make me. From my mother's side of the family comes Ukrainian and Czech. I don't often meet people with those. From my father's side comes Italian, Scottish, English and possible sprinklings of other European countries all mixed together. Something a lot of people I know have in them. Now my husband is from India so he is Indian(not native american "Indian" haha I wish people wouldn't get confused). I heard from a friend about someone they knew who said they have had Indian food before---corn. Hmmm! Well they must be missing out on some yummy Indian food like from INDIA. :P

I would find it extremely fun to be able to go to one place where so many amazing shops are selling their items. And no shipping costs either!! This is a picture from a flickr group with pictures from Renegade San Fransisco.

Favorite smells...
1. Faking it.., 2. smaller version of Pink Roses in aqua urn, 3. cinammoon rolls, 4. I made this cup of coffee and it danced for me, 5. Lemon Love_Affair, 6. Vintage Rose HandkerchiefsI am editing to add more to this post! I was very excited to sell two items on Saturday at The Cozy Nest. Someone bought the lemon pillow cover! I am happy it will have a home. It is going to California. I notice a lot of my items that have sold lately are heading to different cities in CA, that is cool. The opposite coast! And the postal service has been very fast, getting things across the country in two days most of the time.
Also a sweet person I know through cyberspace, who LOVES squirrels, bought my newly listed "Squirrel and Tree Stump" pillow! That was great. I am always encouraged when something sells.
I received in the mail today delicious smelling soap I ordered on sale from dennisanderson.etsy.com, Lemon Sugar Cookie scent. Mmmmm.
And it came with a whole free lip balm! "Butter cream" scented lip balm. I'm telling you, it also smells so delicious!!! I highly recommend the lip balm. The soap I also recommend but I don't know if they have any Lemon Sugar Cookie soap left! :( I got it for 2.40 + 1.25 shipping. A Christmas in July deal, you better go check it out! I first read about the sale at Lillyella.blogspot.com. I ordered it late Thursday night and it got here today, all the way from Portland, OR!

Flickr and Twitter!
Flickr, as I have mentioned before, has been useful for getting my items seen by various people. And that also means occasionally being featured on a blog. I was again today! Visit this cool blog, Lova Revolutionary to see my pillow shown, which is not yet for sale on Etsy but I uploaded to flickr last night and submitted it to one of the group pools I belong to. And this morning, it was on the blog associated with the Lova Revolutionary blog flickr pool.
As other Etsians who sell know, you spend lots of time working on your etsy shop(s) and thinking of ideas. It's just nice when you start to see more fruit of your labor.
As for the pillow above, I'd also like to offer it in a variety of color schemes. I have lots of fabric scraps that come in handy for this type of design. So for instance if the colors do not match someone's decor, I could probably do custom work for a variety of color needs. Pinks, red, blues, greens, browns, etc.
Tomorrow afternoon we are leaving for Alabama to visit my parents, sister and assorted friends who live there. We are staying for a couple days. I have to get things ready today for our trip!
