Happy Thanksgiving!

Tomorrow is that wonderful day, Thanksgiving. I love the food, and the time with family. We are traveling out of state to visit family. We leave today after 4, when my husband gets home from work. We are excited!!! We will arrive to our destination pretty late, but that's ok.

It's our baby boy's first Thanksgiving, so that makes it extra special.

It also marks the real start of the Holiday season for me. I love Christmastime. I don't just mean the material aspects of it, but the whole season. I do love buying gifts for people, affordably. The spiritual part of Christmas is very important to us. We are always thankful for Christ's birth, and even if he wasn't born on December 25th, it's a good day to remember the birth.

Yesterday I purchased some fabric and I hope to make some new items/pillows soon. I am excited about that. I am also happy because yesterday I made my second totally random sale!! I sold an art print about tea.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Stocking Stuffers

I have made a few more trades on etsy, for things I love and think the people I am shopping for will love. There are a lot of women in my life. There's my mom, my sister, a good friend who is just like a sister, a close female cousin, and lots of other lovely gals I call friend. So I am usually looking for girly items. I am sorry for the lack of manly items. :P I will try to find some of those too! I will also do a baby gift idea post soon too.

These are items I have found on etsy, and if I could, would buy all of these for people for Christmas! You can maybe tell that I love the vintage look right now in jewelry. (Pictures removed so that blog doesn't take so long to load!)

Excitement

I was really excited last night because I made my first completely random sale on Etsy!! I had shown 9 sales before that, but it was trades and from family or friends. It had not yet been someone who just browsed my shop and bought. It encouraged me to keep creating! I hope to make more pillows soon, but I am needing some new fabric choices. This is what I sold:

The fabric I have been using, most of it I have had for awhile left over from projects around the house. I made the curtains in our living room a couple years ago, and I had a lot of that fabric left and thankfully it's still in style so I am able to make pillows from that. But I want some new color choices for fabric, I have a lot of just the same color family right now.

My mother also sold an item yesterday. Her sale was earlier and I was a little jealous, hehehe, but then I got a sale too!! Wahooo!

Christmas is getting closer!! I want to make a Christmas gift guide on here.

Thank you to everyone who has visited the blog so far!!

Winter Tree Pillow

I made this pillow a couple weeks ago and it has gotten a lot of positive feedback. It is my most viewed item in my shop. At the end of October, one night it suddenly got a couple hundred views. It went from maybe 70 views to around 300 over night. I was shocked! I still don't know why that happened. But also a lot of people marked it as a favorite item that night(now 17 people so far marked it).

I am guessing people spending less money these days would be a reason why no one has actually bought it yet, even though it is a very affordable price for a hand appliqued pillow. I drew the tree and bird onto felt, cut it out, and sewed it onto the fabric. I got inspiration for the design from a candle holder I have.

I hope it sells or something sells!! I'd love to make a few bucks.

Treasuries are fun

I snagged a treasury at Etsy. I think it's the 3rd I've made. A treasury is a grouping of featured items from other sellers, that you put together. There are hundreds of groupings at a time, but it is still fun!
I think mine expires tomorrow, here it is, filled with items I love:
Things I Love

My mom(considerthelillies) added some beautiful items yesterday! Two different scarflettes/neck warmers, as modeled by my lovely mother and sister:

I added the new ornaments yesterday to my shop.

I need to be working on something else soon. I have had a few ideas but nothing that really excites me.

TGIF! I am glad it's the weekend.

Next project...

I am making some felt ornaments that I'd like to sell inexpensively. I might make a set of four or five that can be sold together as a group. I worked on a couple last night and will work on more later. I am thinking to incorporate birds on some of them.

Sometimes I have spurts of creativity, and sometimes I don't really have the time to make a lot of things I'd want to since I am at home with an adorable 9 month old baby boy. When my husband gets homes from work, sometimes I can snatch some time for making things.

I am unsure whether to make any new pillows yet since none have sold, though I have traded two. I'm in a wait a see mode.

Update from my mother: Consider the Lillies

My mom is in the process of finishing some projects. I asked her to email me pictures so I could write an update here. I think these are so cute!! I think many people will love these items. There are a few steps left to the projects, so make sure you check out the final products in her shop soon!

The top items are wall decor, the other items will be pins or pendants or other items. These are mixed media items, with vintage pictures made to look antiqued by a process my mom did to them. She coated them with modge podge mixed with color to make them look gracefully aged. I can't wait until she has these all listed!

Look out for these new items to be listed in the near future!

Pay a visit to my mom's shop:
http://considerthelillies.etsy.com

Current items for sale there~Earrings, rings, pendants, necklaces, art prints, and brooches.

More spur of the moment projects

I didn't have any new pillow ideas until last night all of the sudden. I wanted to use some soft flannel to make small pillows. A bird, a whale, and a square with a cute yellow balloon button. They turned out cute! I am going to list them today on etsy. I really hope I can make more sales soon. Mostly I've had trades and people I know buy from me. I am still waiting for the first totally random sale. I have to be patient.

Thanks for all the visitors to this blog!! I'd eventually like to get a blogroll going of fellow etsy people. I am not a total blog newbie. I have another blog about my family and life in general, but made this one to deal more with the crafting side of life. You can find the other blog by going to the "about me" section.

...with all the pillows shown in progress Friday night. I finished them up last night and they are all listed now. One is already gone, in a trade! I traded for some cute artwork and I don't want to write too many details since it's a Christmas present for someone who might stumble upon this blog at some point!! :)

I am going to post some of my favorites on etsy right now. So in a way, I am promoting other shops at the moment. But I really love these items.

Consider the Coffee!

As I mentioned in the description above *points to top of blog*, I came up with this name by combining my and my mom's etsy shop names. A lot of coffee names were gone, so this worked out good.

And, it is IMPORTANT to consider the coffee when buying a cup. LOL. You don't want a nasty, weak cup of coffee. Weak coffee is the worst, as nothing can help it improve. If you are desperate for whatever caffeine might be in it, you drink it down out of desperation. Nothing sastifies like a good cup of coffee. If a little strong, adding half and half helps it. A strong cup of coffee can be fixed.

A Dunkin Donuts close to my house used to have good tasting coffee, but over the years it has gotten weaker! Unfortunately I think it may be due to the large retirement community here, which always complains if the coffee is too strong. Argh! :)

current projects

What I am making right now:

Need to finish up the gray pillow, making a new squirrel pillow, a brown bare tree pillow, and a cardinal on green pillow. Also I have a magnet-to-be in the works, the oval object there.

Serious coffee

This hasn't been printed yet, but should be soon. I really like the yellow. I've been into yellow the past couple weeks. I am not sure when I want to get it printed as my other prints haven't really been selling yet. I have other vintage style prints like this over at my etsy shop coffeeandcream.

I am also working on a couple pillows. I have an adorable owl applique I need to decide what to do with. Ornament like the one I already sold? Pillow? Hmmm.
