Flowers and Juicy Lemons

Just wanted to share two fabric designs that I am going to be making different pillow covers from. Beautiful Anna Maria Horner fabric and Alexander Henry Juicy Lemon fabric.

I only have a small amount of each at the moment. I always seem to work on a small scale at first but I like to see how things go before getting big scale! For instance, if I make these and list them and they sell relatively fast, I will know to buy more! If they sit for awhile, maybe I won't need to buy as much so soon. I love so many different fabrics and next week will get some at IKEA, wahoooo.

Today these are things I want to do, Etsy related:
  • Make a couple jewelry pieces to update coffeeandcream. I bought some new beads and charms that I think are very fun. I bought some lovely little tea/coffee cup charms in brass.
  • Make at least two pillow covers, and a small pillow
The rest of my day should be spent hanging out with my family, a little cleaning, getting groceries, and such. Kind of looks like a long list to me! Hmmm...

Made my first sales in my new shop!

I got home from some shopping today to see that two pillows sold(to the same person) from my new Etsy shop thecozynest!! How exciting!! Those pillows had been listed in coffeeandcream. I just moved them to the new shop this week and I am so happy to say they sold! I will miss them though, they are cute!! They were the bird themed pillows in the fabric of "Feathered friends" by Wendy Slotboom.

I've been given an award! And get to pass it to 15 others!

Thanks so much to Cherry Tart Design who passed this award along me here at Consider the coffee! I had seen other blogs receiving this award so I am happy to have gotten it too! I enjoy updating my blog here and hope others enjoy it too.

I won the contest!

Yay! I am happy to have won that contest at StudioHaus's blog! Now a link to thecozynest will be placed in her Etsy shop this week! It would be great if we could all also pay her shop a visit!

I also wanted to share pictures featuring my sister's room. While visiting Alabama, she let my hubby, Kavi(my son) and myself stay in her room. (my husband couldn't stay as long as me and Kavi, but she let us stay in her room for 2 weeks!!). It's a charming and cozy room. It even has a fireplace it in! But it doesn't work, unfortunately.

I should point out that my sister didn't pick this color, it was painted this color when they moved in. She decided to leave it for now though it's not her favorite. I think the decor blends in well with the coloring!

Cute decor around the room:

Featured! Me!

I received a conversation on Etsy not long ago, at my new shop, letting me know that one of my items was featured on a blog! That's exciting! Look here:

http://studiohaus.blogspot.com/2009/05/fav-item-contest-9.html

And it's a contest! You can vote by commenting on which item is your favorite. The winning shop will have a link placed in the Etsy shop of the blog author StudioHaus. I'd love if you could vote for my pillow there!! This is the pillow featured:

Awesome Giveaways...

...at the blog Paper*CakesFinds blog that I follow! Click here to check it out!! And you can enter too!

I want to win lots of it, I think my top pick would be to win the fabric though!!

Voting...and The Cozy Nest

Thanks for the votes so far for the poll on the right. It's a 3 way tie so far with 2 votes each for
-Pillow Covers
-More Earrings
-More Necklaces

I'd love more votes. I can keep extending the voting days left until I get even more votes if I want to. :P

The good news is, I have been making more necklaces and earrings! The pillow covers part I am still behind on. But I am going to start this long weekend.

As I wrote a few days ago, I have made a second shop on Etsy that will be for sewing related items, mostly pillows & pillow covers. I still need to go to IKEA because I really really want that fabric I talked about. I am excited about other fabrics as well.

Here is the banner I made for my new shop! (it got a tiny bit blurred on here because I shrunk it , you can click it to see the full size)

I love the font. I am going to use it on my coffeeandcream banner also, soon. I am trying to think of other ways to tweek my coffeeandcream banner since the shop will soon focus on jewelry.

Have a fun Saturday!!

  • Clean the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom
  • Clean tile floor
  • Relax with my husband and son
  • Watch movies

Getting ideas out of my head and onto to the table

I have a new poll here on my blog, over there on the right! I'd really appreciate if people could give me some input by taking the poll and if you have any comments, feel free to leave them here. I also wanted to say that I am so happy everytime a new person decides to follow this blog. Thank you so much!

It can take me a long time, sometimes, to get the many ideas I have to turn into real, started projects. One reason is because I am a mom with a 15 month old son, and while I can think about projects while I am taking care of him, I can't always sit down and actually start them. I need to get a better schedule going during the week for me and Kavi. I need to maybe set aside certain times for making things and then try to not worry about it the rest of the time. Right now, my mind can go crazy at times with the thinking part and then not being able to accomplish a lot of it. It gets frustrating.

I have a lot of pillow ideas-for appliqued pillows and pillow covers(which I haven't really tried making for selling yet and I want to).

I also am planning to open a second Etsy shop, even though I think I am a little crazy for wanting to have two shops to keep up with right now. But I am going to be moving my pillows and sewing projects over to my new name thecozynest.etsy.com. Right now it's just an ID, not made into a store yet. But I will be doing that soon. That is another reason for my pillow sale on etsy right now. In the new store I hope to sell a variety of pillow covers along with the small pillows I make. Possibly tote bags too, we will see.

I want fabric!

I was browsing IKEA's website for fabrics and saw this new line of fabric called Cecilia...and they are only $2.99/yard!! Click the link to see better pictures and all the choices in this line.

Find it here

IKEA just opened a store in Tampa on May 6th. That makes me VERY happy!!! It's about an hour away. My first visit to an IKEA was in Atlanta almost 3 years ago. We were passing the Atlanta area and decided to go there. That was the closest one to us at the time, a seven hour drive! Then in December of 2007, one opened in Orlando. That is about 2 hours away(give or take 15 minutes). Now the Tampa IKEA will not be such a hassle to get to. We haven't gone yet, figuring it'll be pretty crowded at first. But I really want to go soon, especially to look at their fabrics!!

Featured Etsy Seller: Sugar Village

Please check out this adorable shop on Etsy! You can click the banner below to get to the Etsy shop. This is art that would look wonderful adorning the walls of a baby or child's room! Very cheery and whimsical. There are options for both boys' and girls' rooms!

I recently purchased two sets of cards and they are adorable even for me, a grown up, to use! They sets are only $5 each, so check it out. There is also a sale section with original paintings for $8! I just wanted to promote this shop because it's too cute and needs more sales! Happy looking.

Promoting my mom's new blog on Mother's Day!

I got my mom into blogging recently. She was interested but I bugged her into really making it! She is just starting but already it's cute. Check it out! Here's a preview of what it looks like...click the picture to take you there!

http://considerthelillies09.blogspot.com

Stay tuned as she posts more this week. She is a very creative person! She is very good at decorating her home, and this week I will be featuring decor from my parent's house because I think it's just great! I took pictures while visiting them in Alabama. I am back in Florida now, since Friday night.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's day to all moms! And to those who really want to be moms, and those who have a motherly nature even without having their own children! Today is yours.

It's my second mother's day this year! Sometimes I still can't believe I am a mommy, and have a son. It's wonderful!!! Motherhood is not easy sometimes, but it's worth it.

We went out for a late breakfast this morning. Kavi, my son, got me an adorable card and a rose! (Thanks to my husband, really).

This image above is something I had put together using different images. I had made them for selling on etsy but they didn't sell well, even though they were priced very nice and low, so I let them expire eventually and didn't relist them. I think I can reinvent them a bit and use them for something in the future, but for now I am not really doing much with them.

Happy May 1st!

It's already May! And that means my son Kavi is 15 months old today!

I listed a new necklace on Etsy last night, called Blue Bells

It has a toggle clasp at the front of the necklace, a look I like. My shop is still pretty slow, haven't sold anything in two weeks now. I am trying not to get discouraged!! I have a lot of projects in my head but I haven't had the time or resources(sewing machine is not with me of course while visiting my family) to actually make them.
