Family Time

I have been busy for the past couple of days, hanging out with my visiting family. We are having a good time! We've been out and about eating yummy food, cupcakes, and yesterday we went to a sort of touristy area. It's called The Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs. I have talked about it before. It takes about 45 mins to get there. Where I mostly grew up was only about 15 minutes away from there. So me and my family have been there many times since we had moved to Fl in 1984. But since my parents and sister don't live here anymore, we thought it'd be fun to revisit it.
I had been there in January, on Florida's coldest day of winter(high in the low 30's, insane for central Florida!!). We had gone there to meet up with an online acquaintance of mine I met on an online immigration forum. We had a lot in common, our sons being only a couple months apart, plus many other similar things. The meet up went very well. She and her husband were visiting here all the way from New Hampshire, visiting her mother who lives in Florida. So it hadn't been too long since I got to eat some delicious Greek food at the area we went to.

It's an interesting small town, with a large Greek American community. There are quite a few Greek restaurants and bakeries on the small strip called The Sponge Docks. Sponges are harvested off the coast of Florida and brought back to the docks. You can buy them at the various shops.
We ate at one of our long time favorite Greek places "Mr. Souvlaki". Oh soo good. I ate Chicken Souvlaki. Then later on we ate pastries at Hellas, another popular Greek restaurant/bakery.
Around 4pm they started putting up road blocks and we found out that at 6pm they were having a Greek festival outside. There would be Greek dancing, music, and the restaurants set up tables outside with food for sale. It was so hot out, so we ended up not sticking around until 6pm even though we were really tempted to. We had already walked around a lot by 4pm in the heat and were feeling gross. But next time, I will look up info ahead of time because we'd love to be around for the festival! They said it's been going on the first Saturday of every month.

The festival sounds like a perfect October activity!! That bakery case looked so tempting! Is that where the mousse in the cake were?
