I am trying to do this quick. My parents made a last minute decision to come visit us this weekend! They arrived last night. Kavi was so happy this morning, even though he knew they were coming, he was in bed before they arrived. This morning I reminded him that they are here and he ran out of the room and said "Grandpa!" and ran over to his Grandpa, who was in the living room. :) My parents just took Kavi to the store with them and I am home alone, which is VERY rare! I still need to finish getting ready too.
My parents live near where tornado damage happened but not close enough to affect their town. They really were blessed to be missed by tornadoes in the north and in the south of them. My dad's work involves driving north of them a little bit and he found out that power was out all over and expected to be out for days. So that's why they decided to come.
I baked some sugar cookies last night since they were coming. Although they weren't purely a homemade mixture. I bought one of those powder mixes on sale at Target, in their Easter clearance, that you just add the egg and butter(or margarine) to. But they still taste yummy!
Oh, I also bought a muffin/cupcake pan on sale at Target for $5 too! I didn't actually own one!
I took pictures of the cookie process last night, even though it's simple and not exciting. I just wanted to post the pictures. :)
I hope I'm not the only one here with old yucky looking baking pans.
(I rolled a few in cinnamon sugar, although the cinnamon taste didn't come out strong in the finished product)

Our Easter
On Saturday evening we dyed Easter eggs. This was the first year I did it with Kavi. Last year we were in India during Easter so there wasn't much ado about it and he was only two.
He had fun dying them this year, with a lot of mommy's help. ;) I only took pictures with my cell phone, both Saturday and Sunday. Oops. On Easter Sunday, we had some friends and relatives over. I always end up cleaning like a mad woman the night before and morning of an event like that. I wish I could be the kind of person who always had a clean house! Do those people actually exist? Maybe those who don't have children? Something funny a friend of mine posted on facebook, make sure you read to the end!
A REAL woman always keeps her house clean and organized, the laundry basket is always empty. She's always well dressed, hair done. She never swears and she behaves gracefully in all situations and under all circumstances. She has more than enough patience to take care of her family, always has a smile on her lips, and a kind word for everyone. Post this in your status if you too suspect that you might be a man...
That make me chuckle! Although, my husband is a tidy person! I am not very organized myself. He is rarely the one who makes a mess. Of course messes are mostly the territory of Kavi.
So in the afternoon we had people over. About twelve people here total. Of course we missed my parents and sister and friends who couldn't be here with us.
We sort of did it potluck style. We weren't fancy and people had to sit around the house as our round table only could fit maximum 6 people. But no one minded, we are all pretty laid back about that stuff.
I put eggs in the backyard after eating. There was no candy in them for two reasons: I was afraid they would melt here in Florida, and because we have ants everywhere in Florida and they would find that candy fast. Oh and also because I had candy set out for everyone inside and Kavi already had toooooo much. Everyone who came brought him something! So I put temp tattoos in there, that Kavi didn't care about hah.
He had fun finding the eggs though, with the help of my cousin's daughter who is ten years old. And since the Easter baskets in the house were already holding candy or toys, I had him use his Thomas backpack to put his eggs in. And he insisted on his (2nd)cousin to wear his other backpack (Disney's Cars).
He still has two chocolate bunnies left and some other small candy from Easter. He ate a big chocolate egg yesterday that had candy inside of it too!

Good Friday!
This weekend I reflect on the death and resurrection of Jesus, which holds a lot of meaning in my life. It is inspiring. The sadness followed by celebration and things being made new!
I also was looking at other forms of inspiration, for the home, and I think these will inspire.

Hello!
I feel like I haven't been so good with blogging lately! I can't seem to get myself to concentrate to write much here right now. I guess I am distracted with some things, and also working on a side project here and there that has to do with writing but not blog writing. More like a little story I'm putting together for kids, even if only my son reads it one day. It's been something going on for years now, put on the back burner after having my son but now on and off I work on it again. :)
So yeah, I'm writing a children's story. I am not a trained "writer" and never considered myself a "writer", but it seems I am indeed writing something! :P I'm not thinking "I want to be published!". Maybe it was more that at first. Now, I just want to make an entertaining story for young people and young at heart, even if it's just for my son, family and friends.
I guess I do like writing when it makes me feel happy. Like this blog. I like having it and sharing ideas, inspiration, and some stories. I like reading other blogs too.
I always feel weird even saying I am writing a story because people don't seem to take that kind of idea seriously! I wrote some of it before I was even pregnant, had some time to leave it be, and then picked it back up again. In case it seems I might just have a couple pages worth of words written/typed so far, I actually have 14,731 words typed out at this moment, in a very "rough draft".
So now I am trying to keep adding to it much more frequently than before.

Inspiration: Jeans only
No dresses today! Just good ol' jeans, something I wear basically every day!
I need to do more blog visiting today to catch up more!
I feel like I am out of the loop with things!

The above picture is from about 3 weeks ago. It is Kavi driving his truck in the backyard, with his new huge dinosaur as his passenger! He got that as a birthday gift from friends. At first he was scared of it. The dinosaur roars and his eyes light up red, even scary for an adult! ;) But he grew to love it, thankfully.
Kavi has had a little cold the past couple days. Today he seems to be a lot better! Early Wednesday morning he had a fever and then it came back during the day a couple of times. But I don't think he had a fever all day yesterday. He hardly had symptoms besides a sometimes runny nose. I hope to get out of the house today. Too much time at home the past few days!
Here are other pictures I've had fun with, using retro style editing phone apps.

Busyness needed
I'm still on my weight loss journey, something going on for awhile! Due to ups and downs and holidays. I have accomplished things like the 30 Day Shred and felt good. Well I'm thankfully on my way down the scale again.
I had mentioned that at the end of the Shred I lost a few pounds and inches. I had a hard time accepting that muscle weighs more than fat which can make the scale part confusing. Sometimes we reach those plateaus when your body doesn't want to budge from a certain weight. That happened to me for awhile and it was frustrating because it would discourage me from even trying harder. While that doesn't make sense, it's just a weird mind game.
But I feel encouraged yet again! Due to running around doing things like planning my cousins shower and other recent activity, my body decided to cooperate and lose more weight, even though I wasn't trying really hard. It was just the busyness of life which had me moving more and overeating less. Those are the obvious steps for losing weight, I know. Looks like I need to be an event planner! I have a feeling I'd lose a lot of weight with that kind of busy job. :p

Baby Shower Fun
Yesterday was my cousin's baby shower! After a week of rushed planning, it went so well! I had done prep ahead of time, and my sister did too even though she was in Alabama before coming down on Friday. People loved the decor, and now I am obsessed with orange and turquoise together!! I had shown my cousin inspirations for baby shower decor, and she picked this color combo. I am so glad she did!
We had fun adding in quirky touches, like the orange Gnome, cotton candy, peeps, mint oreos,
and more!
I'm not posting pictures from when everyone was there just in case some people wouldn't want their picture on a blog! :P But it was a nice turn out of about 25 people(including a couple of little kids).

Baby shower prep
The baby shower for my cousin is this Sunday so I'm still working on it. As you can see, the colors are really fun! I let her pick out which colors she liked after looking at some party color inspirations.
My sister is driving down from AL today with our friend and our friend's mother so that she can be here for the shower. My sister already started buying shower decor and snacks there too to bring down.
As of now we are going to make cupcakes for the shower instead of one big cake.
It well be a very busy but fun weekend!
