I just wanted to write a short note to say hello to the bloggy world. We are safe and sound! In the past few days we haven't done a lot. It takes awhile to adjust and the jet lag is horrible for a couple days. Most affected is our son, who has been more clingy and unhappy than usual due to tiredness I think. I have been enjoying Indian food and seeing my inlaws and family again.
In a couple of days I could actually go around to read some blogs maybe. There is a MB download limit on the internet at my inlaws' but starting April 1st it will be unlimited, which means I won't have to worry about using up the MBs by viewing blogs and such(downloading all the graphics uses up MB).
I'll write again soon. :)

Getting ready!
I hope to possibly post while away at least a couple of times because we will have internet access. But today will be my last real post for now! We have to finish getting everything ready for the trip. :) I feel like I will miss out on a lot of internet things while away! I will be gone almost 3 weeks. That sounds long to me. I will be having a wonderful time in India though, and will be busy I am sure! I hope to share an update after we are settled in there. If you read this sometime soon, feel free to say a prayer for our safe travels! It's a long, tiring trip to get there, and I could use all the prayers we can get. Thank you so much!

Fashion Inspiration from India
The first set I found is traditional Indian wear - Sarees. The other sets are more a mix of Indian and Western style. I will be wearing some of these types of beautiful Indian clothing while away.
Enjoy the colors and textiles that are inspired by India!

Rainy day, Award and Seven Things
On this rainy day, we are supposed to go out later to do some shopping for last minute items needed for our trip. We have our front door open(there is a porch so rain can't come in) and it sounds very pretty. Somewhat heavy rain.
It was sew sweet ;) of Melissa at SewSweetStiches to give me this Kreativ Blogger award:
3. I bite my nails sometimes. :\
4. I am 5' 7" and am a lot taller than my mom and sister.
5. Everyone always has said I look a lot like my dad. I do. Once I became a teenager, occasionally people said I looked like my mom.
6. I have good eyebrow control. hahaha. Like, I can switch back and forth which one is up and down, up and down, up and down and make them dance.
7. I once got a joke award when I was a kid, in school, for being able to express how I feel with simply the lift of an eyebrow. I wish I had that award still! Apparently I can express various emotions with slight variations in facial expression and eyebrows. Not all of us can be so talented. ;)
I did it! Seven things.
I will pass this award along to seven other bloggers. :)

Thank you, Melissa! If you've never read her blog, you should go check it out. :)
As part of getting this award I am supposed to share seven things that I haven't shared before. I will think hard, and try to make sure it's nothing I shared before!
1. I am afraid of heights, so the only kind of real roller coaster I have been on was Space Mountain. I haven't gone on any looping coasters. I can't do it! This also impacts my flights in planes. I can manage it, but I still get nervous at first. And mountain roads=rubbery feeling legs.
2. I really like watching hip hop, freestyle and street dancing. I love the choreography in this video below - AWESOME. I wish I could dance like that, for real.

If you'd like to accept this award, copy the picture of the award above and post it on your blog along with seven things about yourself. If you do it, great!! If you don't, that's okay too. And if you do it in a few days, and I don't comment, it's not because I don't like you! :D Remember, my long trip is coming...I won't be able to be online as much. I will let everyone know they got the award by tomorrow if they don't see it on their own. :)
Happy Sunday!

Flashback Friday: Friends
I wasn't sure what to share today. I kept changing my mind! So now it's settled. I am sharing a picture from 4th of July last year.
You can see me, my husband and son in this picture. The rest are all long time friends. We were visiting Alabama for the 4th of July, this was in their downtown area to watch the fireworks. Our good friends Danny, Jill, Dawn(with her baby), Jenn, and Andy with their daughter. My sister may have been taking the picture, since she isn't in it? And a couple other friends who were there aren't in the shot either. Our friends above either live in Alabama now or near Atlanta. We all used to live in Florida.
With the exception of one person in the picture, I have known the rest since I was a young teenager. Many memories! Funny stories, teen embarrassments, grown up excitements, marriages, children. We miss them!

Quick note
I haven't been feeling very good. Sunday I got a stomach flu and was in and out of the bathroom for hours. By Monday morning I could keep down liquids and then later on ate some food. Today I am feeling better than yesterday but still feeling out of it, and just sitting around. Kavi seemed to have gotten it also, but a milder version so that is good. He is doing better too. I hope to feel completely back to normal by tomorrow!

India countdown
So it's about 10 days until we leave for our trip to India! That gives me butterflies in my stomach. Just such a far away travel. I thought I would share a few pictures I took on last year's trip. We are going to Kharghar, India which is a newer "city" about an hour drive from Mumbai(aka Bombay). It is located in "Navi Mumbai" which means New Mumbai, a newer built up area outside of Mumbai. Kharghar is a planned city, and while it looks very built up and filled, it is quiet, more spacious, newer, and cleaner than Mumbai. The first two pictures are from Kharghar, the last two are from Mumbai.
Mumbai streets, random pic from car
My husband put videos from Kharghar and videos from a local theme park on a blog a couple years ago, for people looking for more info about either place. You can go check it out if you want, it's pretty cool! Click Here
Market area we shopped in, in Mumbai. Look at all those shoes. You can't really see in the picture but there was McDonald's right by there. McDonald's in India is very different, the only similar things are the french fries and sodas. Their sandwiches are different(and good in my opinion hehe). They have vegetarian sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, maybe fish. No beef burgers.

Flashback Friday: Lookout Mt
I posted a different pic in a flashback friday last November from this same trip. Here is just a solo picture of me. It was a very fun trip. Me, my sister, and another friend visited one of our friends who moved away to college. I really like visiting this area of Tennessee. I love the mountains. Living in flat Florida most of my life, seeing mountains is exciting to me. It was a cold, fall weather day hence the scarf and gloves! This weekend trip included lots of girl giggling, coffee shops, and walking around cute down towns.
Join in, post your flashbacks!!

More in the back yard
Just thought I would share more back yard fun in today's post. On Monday while my son and I were outside, we got to spend time with a tortoise for a little while who lives at the edge of our yard. (I always just call it a turtle, but turtles live in water, tortoises on land, and I can't help but say turtle anyway!)
I also took a couple shots of birds in a tree. Not the best detailed pictures, but you get the idea.
It's "home", under the edge of the fence. See it peeking out?
At first it was hiding inside it's shell when we went near it. After a few minutes, it stopped being scared and was eating shrubs/grass near us. I don't remember the last time I have seen one eating. It's kind of funny. I even took video of it eating. It also went #2 while walking back towards it's home. So now I know what that looks like too. ;) Eww!

Fashion Inspiration: Style & Smarts
I finally made a polyvore set myself again, here it is:
Smart&Stylish by ChristinaD
I still don't have the patience or styling skills of some of the people on polyvore! I was thinking a grown up, but fun, smart style.
Here is some smart styling from flickr:
Here is some smart styling from flickr:
1. 3.2.10, 2. Frills and Fancy, 3. springtime sweetness, 4. September days
But wait, there's more!! After making my set above, I decided to do a search on polyvore for sets that included books. I "ooh" and "ahhh"-ed at so many!!
So here are more inspirations. Bookish, feminine, smart styles!Friday, March 5, 2010
Busy
We had to go to a city about 45 minutes away today for something so I haven't been able to write more than this! We got home a little while ago. I may write later for Flashback Friday, but I'm so tired now!
About to eat Thai food for dinner, YUM!!

Yesterday, in the morning, me and Kavi went to a toddler group that I have been going to again recently. It's cute for the kids. They have singing, story time, and craft time. Kavi is only 2 so a lot of the things he can't quite do so I have to help him a lot. I find it fun but tiring! So I was tired most of the day yesterday. I also need to get more sleep at night.
My Etsy shops have been in a slump lately, and I have many pillow projects halfway done. But then, I lose the energy or motivation to complete them! But I would like to finish most of it, if not all, before we go to India in three weeks!! Suddenly that doesn't seem so far away! I will have to put my shops in vacation mode for at least three weeks while we are away. So when I am back and readjusted I will have to get the shops up and running again.
Right now there is a 10.5 hour time different between here and India. They are 10.5 hours ahead of EST (my time zone). When we have daylight savings time, it then becomes a 9.5 hours difference(they don't change their clocks, and they also have that half hour difference, different huh?).
Here is at least one project I completed(finally) and listed in the shop last night:

Fashion Inspiration Flickr + Polyvore
I think I am going to stay on this theme for Monday's for awhile. I figure fashion inspiration is a fun way to start the week and might help people who want new ideas. I mostly wear jeans every day. Unfortunately me and skinny jeans don't get along very well yet. I don't think they look good on me at all. I go for straight leg mostly.
This time I wanted to focus on outfits with jeans/pants in them since that is more in line with my every day life. Enjoy!
